Silenced: The Hidden Story of Disabled Britain

If you have iPlayer on your TV set, you may be interested in watching this programme which was broadcast on BBC2 at 21:00 on Tuesday 19 January 2021. ‘A must see and most informative programme.’

‘This is a particularly important 60 minutes’ worth of fascinating television about the struggles faced by the disabled in British society and how they bravely challenged obstacles in their way, including the powers that be!

A considerable part of the programme features the work of Sir Ludwig Guttmann known as ‘Papa’ who established the National Spinal Injuries Centre after World War II at Stoke Mandeville.  In addition, there is a lovely piece about INSPIRE Patron, Baroness Sue Masham a formidable swimmer in the early Para Olympics, winning Gold (which she lost!), Silver and Bronze medals in Rome.’
