Lydia's British Bird Collection
In 2020 Lydia graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with a degree in Textiles, specialising in illustrative print design. She now works for an interiors fabric company on the design team, whilst continuing to create her own artwork alongside. Lydia’s work reflects her love of the British countryside and natural world, working typically with watercolours to create detailed observational paintings of a variety of flora and fauna. By working in this way, she aims to highlight the beauty of different species, drawing attention to the colours, textures and patterns found within them.
Lydia was introduced to The INSPIRE Foundation by Trustee Mary V. Mullin. In a separate capacity, as a Trustee of the ‘Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation’, Mary presented Lydia with their Foundation’s coveted ‘Textile Design Prize’ in 2020. Lydia has generously donated four designs from her British Birds watercolour collection to help INSPIRE’s fundraising cause:
