Abbey Williams
As I step into my role as a trustee of the INSPIRE Foundation, I am keenly aware of the responsibility and privilege that comes with this position. With a robust background in charity fundraising, including prior experience with a hospice charity and my current as trusts and foundations fundraising manager for an autism education charity, I have developedĀ specialised expertise in securing funding from trusts and foundations. I have also gained experience and understand of other areas of fundraising including - major donor; legacies; events; and corporate.
This experience has not only honed my skills in charity fundraising but has also instilled a deep understanding of the importance of sustained financial support for charitable initiatives, particularly in the areas of health and disability.
My personal journey, shaped by my role as a parent and as an emergency service family, has instilled in me qualities of empathy, resilience, and a drive to advance the welfare of others.
Currently, I am pursuing a law degree, which I believe will further equip me with the tools needed to influence advocacy and policy developments relevant to our mission at the INSPIRE Foundation.
On a personal note, my connection to spinal cord injuries extends beyond professional interests; I have progressive scoliosis, a condition that has at times significantly impacted my mobility and overall quality of life. Additionally, I share a close bond with my great aunt, whose severe spinal injury, resulting from a car accident in the 1990s, compels me to deepen my commitment to this cause. I am wholeheartedly dedicated to drawing upon my experiences and expertise while serving the INSPIRE Foundation, with the aim of making a substantial impact in the field of spinal injury research and support.
